Sugar and spice and spam are nice

How much sugar and white flour did I consume yesterday? The world may never know, suffice it to say, it was a lot. In fact, I dare say it was too much. Someone is trying to sink me. Once again some one has brought Danish Butter Cookies in and I find that I am unable to resist their magical powers. Of course sitting next to them on the counter is a big box of pralines. I can't resist those either. I'm sunk I tell you, sunk!

I've been spamed! I don't know how it happened, but I got on some one's junk mail list, and have been getting emails for herbal Viagra for the last few days. The subject lines say, "Hi Susan or Jacque, here is my new information." Not good. I don't want herbal Viagra, or any Viagra for that matter. A date now and then with a semi-regular person would be nice, but not Viagra.

Speaking of unsolicited advertising. Has your house been inundated with more telemarketers than usual -- mine has? They are even so cavilier as to leave messages on the machine. The one I love the best was this: "Hi, this is Bill from ABC Mortgage. Right now is a great time to refinance. I left a message the other day, but you never returned my call, so I was just calling back to check and see if you were still interested in refinancing?" Hmmm, well Bill, I wasn't interested in your proposal the *first* time you left a message on my machine. That's why I didn't call back, I wasn't interested, and to top it off, who are you anyway? I just find it weird.

I'm going to the Junior High near you tomorrow to meet my classes, and teacher. I'm nervous. Nay, I dare say, I'm scared silly (like I wasn't silly enough to start with). These are real teenagers, with real raging hormones. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed actually. I just want them to respect me, then we can have fun and learn some history to boot.

Here is a news item. It was reported yesterday in Salt Lake City (home of the 2002 Winter Olympics) after a sweep of airport security personnel many of them were undocumented or had criminal records. This makes me feel oh-so-safe. Are we ever going to take airport security seriously? I doubt it, because it's the bottom line that counts in this country, not the lives of its citizens. Bah-humbug on them!

But on a lighter note, Bob Barker is 78 today. Happy Birthday you dirty old man!
